Good to know about corten steel

Corten steel is designed to rust: the patina protects the steel and gives the fire pit its warm reddish-brown colour. While the patina is forming, rainwater can carry rust that may stain light paving or wood, so choose a surface where this is not a problem or use a protective mat. Place the fire pit on a level, non-combustible surface at a safe distance from buildings and plants, and never leave the fire unattended.
